Who wants to play SCVNGR? I have placed several game layers around the Washington, DC metro area using the mobile gaming app SCVNGR, and Deanwood is my newest one! I have made the historic neighborhood of Deanwood my new playground for geolocation based apps, virtual gaming apps, and augmented reality. The locations of the DxD Trek(a series of challenges) focus on our three temporiums. At each there is much to see and explore, and we want to encourage you to share your experience at our events with your friends. Why not make it a game, right?
The app is free and easy to use, and anyone can create a game. My hope is that this app will drive awareness and exposure to Deanwood’s many charms, neighborhood resources, and let people know what’s going on within the neighborhood.
DxD has events going on every weekend and there is plenty to choose from. Fun for the whole family! Visit the website events page(The Happs) and come join us out in Deanwood for art, community, and fun! Game on!
I’ll share another app with you tomorrow that I’ve been using to play around with augmented reality.
