Remember when…August Green Corps outdoor cookout and film screening in partnership with Washington Parks and People. Ahhhh….another great event. Great food too, the produce was so fresh. The films screened by WPP were so informative, and reassuring of the progress that is happening east of the river. I had no idea how great a difference trees can make in a community.

11am Deanwood Heritage Trail Walking Tour with Deanwood History Committee member Kia Chatmon - Learn the history of who made Deanwood a thriving African-American neighborhood, a community of reliant people.
1-3pm Investigating Where We Live at The Center for Green Urbanism presented by The National Building Museum -What makes your neighborhood special? How do you tell a story about your neighborhood? Learn how, using a combination of instant developing photos, copies of the existing photos of Deanwood, creative writing, and your own creativity! Inspired by the National Building Museum’s Investigating Where We Live program, participants will learn how to create pop-up versions of their neighborhood that show what makes it unique! Appropriate for families with children aged 6 – 11. Limited capacity. Approximately 1.5 hours long.
1pm-4pm Burn On A Budget Healthy Cooking Demonstration and Eat A Rainbow Workshop For Kids - You’re invited to join us for our first culinary event. Burn On A Budget is a Healthy Cooking demonstration hosted by Malonda Richard-Sia Mrs. Richard-Sia will show you how to cook a healthy meal for your family in 30 minutes on a limited budget.
EAT YOU RAINBOW WORKSHOP FOR KIDS facilitated by Alison Henderson !!! A fun way to help you and your family choose the right foods is to Eat a Rainbow - choose fresh fruitsand vegetables from each color of a rainbow. This workshop will teach kids to choose from a “rainbow” of food, from purple plums to red apples to greens like spinach and celery.
